Purple Chameleon Books
No sooner was the Christmas and New Year holidays out of the way and the preparations for The Societies Convention took a firm grip. This was of course shortly followed by a wonderful Convention with lots of giving and receiving in the learning arena.
Then came the final ramblings for The Photographer Academy webinar which took place last night and what a WOW that was; I was still buzzing 4 hours after it had finished and poor John was trying to get some sleep … bless him.
I was a little worried that it would turn more into a gardening feature rather than something that was photography related. Judging by the feed-back I received from Mark and Jay last night I needn’t have worried, your response was over-whelming and so have the personal messages I received last night and again today – thank you all, it means a lot xx
The first lot of films are due to start going out in the next week or so and there have been discussions about more filming and the possibility of another webinar; I’ll keep you all posted as to what and when etc.
You might also have noticed some new images in the abstract and floral galleries PLUS a new gallery for invertebrates. I have also released new dates for the Macro and Extreme Macro Workshops AND added a new WordPress Workshop – more on that one another time!
I have been toying with the idea of a monthly/ quarterly newsletter but I wasn’t sure in what format it was going to take or indeed what exactly the content would be – that was until 3.30 am this morning … and why is it that ideas like this always hit at stupid o’clock and the mind starting racing and sleep runs away rather rapidly?
After the convention I had an inkling of what I wanted to do but was still a little hesitant about whether it would work or not but after the response and the questions from last night’s webinar I’m pretty certain which direction the newsletter will take.
My initial idea was a “Michelle Whitmore” newsletter but that really isn’t my style or something I’d feel totally comfortable with. So then I thought about something to combine My Macro World with the new website I’m currently working on but still didn’t think it would quite gel properly until last night when the final piece of the jigsaw fell into place. There were more questions about the plants and the insects than there was about the “technical side” of the photography which completely surprised me. And it was at 3.30 am this morning that the penny dropped – a newsletter/mini magazine/journal that combined my love of insects with my passion for gardening that would also keep you up to date with anything else you might be interested in.
I have a couple of ideas of how its going to fit together and I can’t wait to get started on it although at the moment I am undecided if it will be monthly or quarterly. Then there is what to call the newsletter/mini magazine/journal? My initial idea is “My Patch”, which is not very inspiring but does keep in with the My Macro World concept. Any ideas?
Please get in touch and tell me if you think monthly or quarterly would work better and also any ideas you may have for the name. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Don’t forget to sign up for all my ramblings if you haven’t already done so.
